Never Strangers
Choose how you'd like to experience this reflection. Listen or read below.
There are people we leave behind, and then there are people who never really leave us. Life moves on. Cities change. Careers evolve. Families grow. We become different versions of ourselves. Yet every so often, someone from another chapter reaches out, and within moments it feels as though no time has passed. Not because you've been waiting. Not because you wish you could go back. But simply because some connections know exactly where to find one another. There's still a place that doesn't need updating, where the two of you recognize each other immediately. It's a rare kind of gift.
Most people know us as we are today. They know our work, our responsibilities, the life we've built. But every now and then, someone remembers us from the inside. They remember the places that shaped us, the conversations that lasted for hours, the laughter that needed no audience, and the ordinary moments that somehow became unforgettable. Sometimes they remember details we've forgotten. It's not the memories that move us. It's realizing someone else carried them, too. Not every meaningful relationship is meant to stay at the center of our lives. Some simply shift. They stop requiring our daily attention. They quietly become part of the foundation beneath us. We may not think of them every day, but they live in the far corner of our mind, quietly shaping who we've become. When life unexpectedly brings one of those people back into view, we aren't always longing for the past. More often, we're simply grateful to discover that, despite all the years that have passed, there's still a place where time never asked either of you to become strangers. Sometimes, that's one of the greatest gifts life gives us.

Beautifully said, very relevant, thank you!
