Where Between Sips Began
A behind-the-scenes reflection on the inspiration behind my spoken jazz recording.
“Between Sips” was born from something most of us have lived without ever naming. When drinks are shared between two people, rarely is one drink the thing that changes the evening.
It happens slowly. Sip by sip. Small talk fades. Conversations become less guarded. Stories surface. Laughter comes easier. You find yourself sharing thoughts you’ve kept private. That’s the space this song explores. Not the drink itself, but the release it often creates. The sense of ease. The freedom to be fully present with another person. We've all experienced those moments when defenses soften and a simple conversation turns into something deeper. Somewhere between one sip and the next, something shifts. Feelings surface that had no language. Confessions slip out gently, without regret. "Between Sips" lives in that moment. It's about the space between words. The thoughts that emerge when we're fully present. The unexpected vulnerability that appears when we feel safe enough to be ourselves. That's where the real conversation begins.
Between Sips lives on my album, Reflections in the Rhythm of Life, a spoken jazz journey where poetry, groove, and reflection move together in rhythm.
